Duck Duck Goose | Summer 13 Adventures

"Oh, but I like my geese. Like cats, they can't be told what to do, and like dogs, they're loyal, and like people, they talk every chance they get."
-Shannon Hale, The Goose Girl

Wildlife at the Old Mill in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Phone Photo Friday | II

(clockwise from top left)

1. My favorite tea I was introduced to this summer. It is like drinking the perfect summer day. Yep, it's that good. No sugar needed.

2. The Barbie pink mustang I saw in a store parking lot. It is my 6-year-old self's dream car. I'd be perfectly happy to drive it home, thank ya very much.

3. A bookstore we found in Savannah, Georgia this summer. It was so perfect. Floor to ceiling books, ladders to reach the top shelves, oversize leather chairs, brick walls, wood floors, wooden exposed rafters in the ceiling. It was pretty much the best bookstore ever. The end.

4. Foggy highways and beautiful clouds in middle Tennessee.

By the Pool | Summer 13 Adventures

“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have
always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”

There's a "6 things about you" thing going around and after Katilda did it, I decided I'd give it a go. So, here are 6 things about me that you may like to know.

1. Is this how you imagined your life to be?
Nope, but whose life is? I've had more changes in the last year than I would've imagined/wanted and I know there is more to come. No one's life goes according to their plan; you just gotta go with it!

2. If money were no object, you would purchase...
The first thing off the top of my head is a new camera, of course. :) If I were going all out, I'd get a couple horses. Someday I'm going to own a horse. No idea when, but someday.

3. What's your drink of choice when out with girlfriends?
This summer I discovered water with crushed strawberries and basil. So refreshing. When I first heard of it I thought basil and strawberries were a very odd combination, but they are great together.

4. What do you love about yourself?
My creative-craftiness. Is that a word?

5. Name one good deed that went unseen.
I honestly can't think of one right now. So, if you read this, then I challenge you to do a good deed today. :)

6. What hobbies do you have that you don't mention on the blog?
Knitting, sewing, and reading, though I haven't done of any of them lately due to college work.

Now, tell me something about yourself!

On the Road | Summer 13 Adventures

This summer I've spent many hours in the car traveling. We drove from western Kentucky to the Georgia coast and back, and then later from Kentucky to Orlando, Florida. I think it averages out to 7 full days in the car. Whew!

One thing I do like about spending all that time driving was different scenery I got to photograph; open fields of farmland, wooded areas, sunsets, and palm trees lining the roads.

I had to include a photo from when we got to Orlando late at night. The last picture is of a McDonald's, one of the many in Orlando, but very unique because it looks like a box of french fries!

Now I'm hungry.

Phone Photo Friday | I

Welcome to Phone Photo Friday!

Every couple weeks I'll post a few photos from my phone on a Friday (Yes, I wrote that sentence like that intentionally).

This week is a selection from our trip to Tybee Island this past May/June.

(clockwise from top left)
1. Walking on the beach in the rain. Because of the rain, we were the only ones on the beach!
2. The jetty. Not pictured, a sign next to the rocks that says "No climbing on the jetty", and the people who were climbing on said jetty.
3. One of the many attempts to take self-portraits on the beach. It would help if the other person wasn't walking away...
4. One of the many beautiful sunsets we saw on the beach! The clouds were different every time.

Tybee Island Beach | Summer 13 Adventures

“Nobody could catch cold by the sea; nobody wanted appetite by the sea; nobody wanted spirits; nobody wanted strength. Sea air was healing, softening, relaxing -- fortifying and bracing -- seemingly just as was wanted -- sometimes one, sometimes the other. If the sea breeze failed, the seabath was the certain corrective; and where bathing disagreed, the sea air alone was evidently designed by nature for the cure.”
- Jane Austen
